"Educational Technology '97: Anything, Anytime, Anywhere, with Anyone"

CEUT and Media Services are co-sponsoring a videoconference on Thursday at
2:30 in the Donaldson Brown Auditorium. All faculty, administrators, and
graduate students are invited to join us for this free 90-minute program.

Diana Oblinger, Manager of Academic Programs and Strategy for IBM, and her
colleague, Michael O'Kane, will focus on distributed learning environments
(DLE's): a learning environment that exists among a distributed student
population. The presenters will (1) describe the benefits of a DLE, (2)
discuss options for creating DLE's, and (3) show you two tool sets for
rapid development of material.

The agenda for the presentation includes the following topics:
"An Electronic Buffet: Your Multimedia Options"
Developing a course for different types of delivery
-- traditional class with on-line component
                -- self-paced course
                -- distance learning course
        Building modularity into courses
        Multimedia design
        Avoiding the multimedia pitfalls
        Audience call-in

Participants at the videoconference will receive packets of material to
supplement the presentation.

If you are unable to attend and would like to view the videotape, please
contact CEUT at 1-9109 or ceut@vt.edu.
