Subject: Toward a Draft Report ...
To: TRAD-L@LISTSERV.VT.EDU

Ed and I met this-afternoon to go over our current status and future plans.
As you may know, Ed will be leaving town next Wednesday and will not return
(except for brief respites) until March 11. It is crucial that he take with
him (on his laptop) as many as possible of our individual contributions, so
that he can work with them while he is away.

Accordingly, we request that you send whatever you can to Ed, with copies
to me, no later than Tuesday February 25.

To help us keep track of everything, please attach a checksheet indicating
(1) what you have already provided, (2) what you are now providing; and (3)
gaps that you still intend to fill, with expected dates of completion.

At this stage we would ask you to send even rough/incomplete text so that
we can begin to assemble the first draft. Two other subcommittees have done
this already, and it has proven very useful in raising organizational
issues, helping to identify gaps, and so on. If you have no text at all for
a particular section, an outline would be better than nothing!

In other words, please SEND SOMETHING by next Tuesday! We'll work with
whatever you give us! In the meantime, we are working on a web page that
makes it all accessible.

Below I am listing items ("facts to report") from Ed's 1/21/97 memo,
indicating the individuals to whom -- I believe -- responsibilities were
assigned. Please notify me of errors/additions. Some, but certainly not
all, of the items listed have already been provided.
