Subject: On-Campus/Off-Campus Numbers

Ed,

I was surprised to see in our committee's outline yesterday the statement
that increasing numbers of students will be living off-campus in the
future. I didn't challenge it at the time because I wanted to double check
my understanding of the current trends with Ed Spencer. Yesterday at
lunch, and later in the e-mail message below, Ed confirmed what I had
thought. The percentage of Blacksburg-campus students who will live
ON-campus is expected to INCREASE, not decrease, in the coming years,
because enrollment will remain constant and the number of on-campus beds
will increase somewhat.

Cathy
