Subject: Steve Gilbert's Visit
To: Multiple recipients of list TRAD-L <TRAD-L@listserv.vt.edu>

As you know, Steve will meet with members of the steering committee and
subcommittees in the President's Board Room in Burruss from 1-3 on Dec 12.

Given his national perspective, I have asked him to give a few opening
remarks (maybe 10 minutes or so) on Virginia Tech's position relative to
other comparable institutions of higher education, with some specifics on
leading institutions and what they are doing (and also something on how we
know how well they are doing, i.e., on assessment).

We would then like to give the subcommittee chairs (on behalf of their
subcommittees) an opportunity to lead about 10 minutes each of questions
and answers. For this purpose, we hope that subcommittee members will
provide input (i.e., questions) in advance to their chairs.

Hopefully, there will be more than enough time left over for general
discussion. We'll play it by ear!

Steve's public presentation at 5 in 1045 Pamplin will have the title
""Certificates, Chips and Sweatshirts." Please attend yourselves and
encourage your colleagues to do so as well. For those who cannot come, we
are hoping that both sessions will be video-recorded.

Don't forget the presentation tomorrow (Thursday, Dec 5) by Tom Head, John
Moore, and David Taylor at 3:30 in the DBHCC.
