Hi - Here's my try at recording what we decided at this morning's mtg.
Send me your feedback if I have it wrong. A.

General Meeting Plan:
One hour each for the following:
(with round robin participation by all members and notes on final
         consensus)

        I. definition and clarification of 4-5 major topics we are addressing

II. list of data we need to address those topics (we have bits of this,
e.g. Cathy Gorees report will fit into this)

III. strategies for how we will obtain that data (surveys, interviews,
etc. will be in this last section).

Here's a fairly simple outline of things we probably need to get written
down in the first section: (based on a review of minutes of earlier
subcomm mtgs and discussion at this morning's mtg)

        1. Listing of types of students we are addressing:
(this part should be very brief as we've talked about these before; it
includes what Ed originally called "categories and groupings")

                (a) Traditional undergrads (~ 50% on campus; most others in
                        Bburg)
                (b) Groups within these undergrad degree-seeking students that
may need special consideration in some regard within that large
                 constituency:
                        minority students
                        older students
                        disabled students
                        international students
small numbers of temporary distance learners
                        (who have I missed)
        2. What are the main educational needs of all students in this group?
                (a) needs that we in the Univ perceive as critical to
                          disciplinary and general education
                (b) external pressures and societal forces (including job
related demands, demands for more problem-solving
skills and critical thinking, specific job skills, etc)
                (c) needs perceived by students and their parents
                (d) infrastructure needs to support (a) - (c).

WHat are the specific needs of the subgroups listed above that differ
                 from or require special considerations?

        3. What are we currently doing to meet the needs defined in 2? (this
includes what Ed called Methods and approaches earlier)

Should this section be brief broad descriptions that we can use
to then define specific data to collect?

Is this where we list the things we are doing with technology
now? (see some of Ed's questions for the recent St Comm mtg).
        4. Where are we going in the future? 5 yrs (U plan); 5-10 yrs.

Give me your feed back and we can keep revising this for Tuesday. Anne
