Hi - I received this notice because I'm on the Student Success committee.
It seems that having someone from the Trad subcommittee attend the talk at
the beginning of the morning to take notes and see what data are available
would be useful. Perhaps we can recuit a person to do this at tomorrow
morning's committee meeting. A.

>
>Presentation: Geodemographic Market Research as an Enrollment Tool
>Date: Novembe 6, 1996
>Time: 8:30 - 12 p.m.
>Location: CEC Conference Room C
>
>Event: Tedd Kelly, president of Consultants for Educational Resources And
>Research (CERR), will hold an information session on using geodemography as
>a recruitment and enrollment management tool. Mr. Kelly's visit is hosted
>by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. CERR and the Admissions Office
>have worked together over the past three years to explore the impact
>geodemography could have on recruitment at Virginia Tech. We are now
>considering undertaking an in-depth geodemographic market research project
>and invite you to join us in learning from Mr. Kelly how such a project
>would impact our recruitment efforts.
>
>Geodemography classifies the United States population into 62 discrete
>neighborhoods according to multiple databases on individual lifestyles and
>socioeconomic characteristics. The most current US Census data (within six
>months) and 1600 other databases form the research database.
>
>Geodemographic market research enables colleges to: Recruit at the
>neighborhood and block group level, expand existing market segments, open
>new market areas, diversify student enrollments, strategize financial aid,
>create an efficient prospect management system, and save money.
>
>If you would like to attend this presentation, please RSVP to Kelly Queijo
>(kellyq@vt.edu) or phone 1-4293.
>
>We have set aside the entire morning for Mr. Kelly's visit, however, we
>anticipate the presentation, followed by Q and A, will end around 10:30.
>The remaining time will be used to discuss and plan potential geodemographic
>projects for undergraduate admissions. All those interested are invited to
>stay for the duration of the meeting.
