Integration and Differentiation:

Technologies that support interconnected global networks will
lead to fully integrated information systems that have access to
immense volumes of data. With the development of discretionary
tools that selectively filter task relevant information from the
data reservoir, the dilemma of information overload is
diminished. However, unless the systems can respect the
individuality of not only the user, but of the user group as a
whole, the greater threat may be to cultural differentiation and
regional peculiarities. Society must take care to preserve the
individual, as well as the cultural equivalent of the "toute
ensemble". The information revolution needs an historical
perspective to guard against homogeneity.
