From Centralized to Distributed

Informations systems have moved from centralized systems to client-server environments. Our DLs therefore may follow that same path; scalability makes it almost obligatory.

We consider the Hyper-G system, our environment for supporting CS education with our digital library environment, the efforts of Kahn/Wilensky/Arms on DL architecture, problems of combining results of distributed searches, and the NCSTRL architecture.
