Windows 1: Moving and Sizing A Window is a rectangle figure in which a file or application is displayed. Normally, a Window has Vertical and Horizontal Scroll Bars and a Title Bar. There are many actions you can take with a window, such as Moving, Sizing, Maximizing, Minimizing, Closing and Activating a window. To activate a window, move your mouse pointer into a window and click. When a window is activated, it appears ABOVE or ON TOP OF all other windows open at the same time. The Search Window and the Lights Toolbox Menu are exceptions (they remain on top of other windows whenever they are displayed). When a window is deactivated, the Title Bar becomes transparent, except for the portion where the name of the window appears. Moving a Window To move a window across the screen without changing its shape, move your mouse pointer to the Title Line at the top of the window (Dark Area when the window is activated). PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the Select Button in the Title Bar while moving the window to a new location. An outline of the box reflects your mouse movements as you drag the box across the screen. When you have moved the window to the new location, release the Select Button. The window will immediately reappear in the designated new location. NOTE: It is possible to move a window off the screen to the degree that it may be difficult to grab the window and move it back onscreen. It is best to leave at least a small portion of the Title Bar onscreen so that the window is easy to reposition. Sizing A Window To change the size of a window, move your mouse pointer to the edge of a window either at a corner or along any of the borders. As you position your mouse pointer in these areas, you will notice that it changes into a line with arrows at either end. At a corner, the arrows branch at right angles while along horizontal and vertical edges of a window, it forms a straight vertical or horizontal angle. PRESS AND HOLD DOWN your mouse pointer at any of these junctures and drag an edge or a corner of a window. In this way, you can resize the window to be larger or smaller.
