1986 ACM Guide to the Computing Literature

     Two tapes containing the 1986 edition of "Guide" data were provided
by Bernard Rous of ACM, as created by Access Innovations, Inc.  Those
tapes were read in, edited, run through various programs, and put in a
form suitable for the Personal Librarian by Edward A. Fox and Qi Fan
Chen.  It is highly likely that there are many errors remaining in the
text of the collection that has been indexed, due to errors in the
data provided or the processing required -- please excuse our hurried
efforts to try to produce a product that could be used for experimentation.  

     The collection contains records for whole books/reports/theses,
book chapters, journal articles, whole proceedings, and proceedings
papers.  Each of these types has its own set of fields; the total set
of fields is quite large.  For convenience, help in searching has been
provided -- use "HELP FIELDS" to see groupings of fields for short
displays or for easy access to title, keyword, author related fields.
